What is the difference? Power, rims, cd-player. etc... The reason, I am looking at buying a Lightning for my daily driver. 2002 Lightning, red, 5600 miles, bed cover, $25,500.00 out the door, tax, title, everything. Warranty up to 36K or 6/05. 2003 Lightning, color and options not known yet, I don't know price but was told I can get it on the x-plan and get rebates because it is a new vehicle. Told the price will be close to the 2002 Lightning. Full warranty. Like I mentioned, any difference? Is the 2003 the same but newer?
if i remember correctly the '03 has a slightly revised intercooler for more hp (again, slightly). as well it was fitted with different rims and the euro tails. for the most part they are the same truck though. -steve
Same truck just different wheels and silver color for 03. Other than that they are the same. Same power levels. Revised Intercooler?? Never heard of that before.
You may want to ask about the rods and pistons too. I have been told by a few people that ford went to weaker, cheaper rods in 01, 02 or 03. I can't remember which. -Jason

Lightnings built after nov. 12, 2002 have updated heads. (spark plug "pop" with pre nov. 12, 2002, not enough threads to secure the plug) And again, go to www.nloc.net the best place for the information your looking for. I went there before I bought my 2004 with 3856 miles on it...I almost bought an 02 until I went there seeking help...thank goodness I did. Lightnings are awesom trucks...
