I received a call from my dealer yesterday regarding my standing order for a 2005 Cobra or Shelby model Mustang. The fleet manager said that they have received information from Ford about the availability of both a Mustang Cobra and a Shelby Mustang model. At first I was confused because I know that Ford and Shelby have introduced a concept model Shelby Cobra (not a mustang). Serveral months back I read that Ford might make a "Shelby Mustang" available but, I had no idea that the option would be available this soon. Having heard this rumor, I put up a deposit for both a Mustang Cobra and a Shelby Mustang (GT- 350/500?). The fleet manager assured me that he had information from Ford on both models and would be sending it to me to choose from. Anyone else have information on the availability of a "Shelby Mustang"???
Please let me be the first one to say to the fleet managers comments. It has already been stated there will only be V-6 & GT models in 2005.
Maybe in a couple years, but not 2005. It would be nice but I think he is toy-ing with you. I have seen and read nothing that supports this. I would like nothing more than to believe it, but it is not true.
spacy Yes, sounds like a reach but I'll reserve judgement until I see the offering. Whatever it is, I don't expect it until '05.
This is totally true and when you find a Knowledgeable saleman at a dealer it's as rare as hen's teeth. I have had a few heated discussions with some sale people in the past over the lack of what they THOUGHT they knew with proof to back up what I was saying was fact and not the other way around. In MT magazine, they had a PhotoShoped version of the Shelby Mustang and they were saying "if" it gets done it "may" look like this "but don't hold your breath just yet..." I'd buy one in a blink of an eye if true, I would second mortgage my house if necessary.
Dealers and their salespeople are generally idiots... Don't get caught up in that game of theirs to tell you what is coming out. They don't know anything....
Car salesman... They put all of their energy into figuring out different ways to screw the customer, and not something as trivial as product research...
I totally agree with everyone here. There is no such thing as a Shelby Mustang on the new body. There were ideas for some, like he said earlier, but there is no definate plans, there aren't even concepts that Ford approves of to my knowledge. So, ignore that dumba$$ salesrep. He has no idea what he is talkin about, and if he sends you anything in the mail, it will be for the V6 and GT. After all, that is all that is coming out this year. Maybe, in a few years, there will be a Shelby model, in that case, I will buy one immediatly. Until then, no such thing. Sorry.
We will not know anything about whether or not there will be a Shelby Mustang until sometime in 2005.
