I bought a 2008 Shaker 500 unit off the forums. I went to install it today, and I had two problems: 1) The antenna connector on the back of the radios is different. The 2005 has a hole on the back, and the antenna has a post that goes into the hole. The 2008 looks more like a female coax connector on the back of the unit, its got a sleeve with a slender wire coming out that apparantly the antenna plugs into. 2) With the power connected, the CD mode of the 2008 was sitting on Intitializing for a long time, and it looked like it was searching for disks or something. Is this normal? Can I over come these differences or should I look for a 2005 replacement?
I was able to get it working. I needed a 40-CR20 adapter that I got from a local auto audio shop. After that, everything worked well.
My 05 was broken, and I wanted to stay stock. I did notice that the 2008 has chrome trim on the knobs, looks sharper than my all black plastic 05!
