Hey everyone, I picked up an 89 351w non roller. I want to throw in a 5.0 roller cam. 1. Can I mix a hydraulic roller cam with a mechanical roller lifter? 2. I heard if I use the mechanical roller lifters with the connecting bars that I don't need to use the dogbones and spider and I could use the 5.0 HO cams, true? I know about the problem with the 5.0 roller rockers and cam not working with the 351 because the bore for the lifters is to short causing the lifters to lift up too far. Thanks
yeah a link bar setup will work or you could use a small base circle cam and do a bit of machining to the lifter bores to fit the dog bones. That way everything will work right and normal with no issues.
