I just found a 5.0 that im quite intrested in. The crap thats wrong with it is this... "check engine light comes on its showing a code for EGR valve. heater core leaks and is not hooked up. Gas guage does not work. " How hard and PITA would it be to get that fixed? and about how much as well. Thanks Guys
I picked mine up for 3000. Had a couple of things that needed to be replaced and it had 200,000 miles. Paint was good, everything worked great. I attached a couple pictures. MVC-024 was the day after i bought it last January. MVC-007 was 2 months after. Currently it looks the same outside. As for you fuel gauge you would need to drop you tank and replace the sending unit, while you there i would also replace the fuel pump and filter. Heater core sucks cause you have to go through the dash, takes a while to replace. EGR, im unsure about, all i know is i wish i didnt have it.
your car looks good. the car im looking at is a little over 100k and has a few good mods put on already. I might just go for it. Hopefully everything works out. Thanks for your help.
Replace the EGR and the EGR position sensor. Its time. White89gt is right. Do the fuel level sender, fuel pump and the filler neck to tank seal while your in there. I suggest a 190 high flow type. Get a bigger fuel pump if your going to get crazy with the mods ie. supercharged heads etc. As far as the heater core, yes it takes a while to to replace. Dash must come out on most models. Go to TEXASMUSTANG.COM for prices on all these parts
Yours looks almost exactly like mine did when I got it. I paid $5000 for mine, it was bone stock, in perfect condition. Mines no longer white though.
I had that same EGR code. I took the EGR valve off and just blasted it with throttle body cleaner and disconected the battery and the code went away. The fuel guage sending unit isn't that hard to replace. I did mine when I replaced the fuel pump. The heater core sucks to replace. I think 2500 would still be a good price.
