Hey Guys, I will be coming up on my 2000 oil change and want to
know what you all think about product. Do we put in Mobile 1 or go
with Royal Purple??? Most of my driving is semi performance on the
street (4000 to 6000 rpm) with an occasional pass thru the mount-
ains on the 'road race' course. Do we need the tin additive for the
cams? I will wait for the 5000 mile mark before I do the 'Slick 50'
additive. You may laugh but after putting Slick 50 in my big block
454 Engine in my 24' Searay boat, I pulled another 400 RPM at WOT.
I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks for the input!
Love this car!!! Black over Black, 3:55's, Brembo Pkg, BBK CAI and
    some pretty loud Flowmasters!!
    Thanks
    David C

What's an oil change cost in your area?
My dealer went from about $20 to just over $30. Claims he was losing money because of all the oil the Mustang V8 needs.

    cost

    Stan,

Atlanta area, cost are all over the place. My wife's 2011 Escape cost $34. See some $19.95 specials now and then.

The Mustang holds 8 quarts and pretty much everyone is charging an "extra oil" surcharge on top of their regular price.

Since I specifically wanted Royal Purple, I bought my own oil ($7.25 qt.) and filter. Lazy in my old age, I let the oil change shop do the work. They charge $20 or so bucks in labor but I don't have to drag out tools.

I guess $90 covers it. Dang, why did you ask? Now I see how much I'm spending on a simple oil change...

How long will Royal Purple last before you need to change it out? Do you use the 5w-20?

From Royal Purple's web site: Royal Purple suggests adhering to manufacturer’s recommended oil change intervals for vehicles under warranty using its API-licensed SAE engine oils. With Royal Purple HPS, drain intervals may be extended to 12,000 miles (20,000 Km) or one year, whichever occurs first in street-driven, mechanically-sound vehicles. For guidelines specific to your vehicle, we recommend contacting our technical department. And yes, I'm using 5W20.
