I had the kit from 5.0 resto returned. My dad says the box was a mess, with open parts that seemed to have been just thrown into the box with gear oil bottles broken open. He says it looks like its traveled around a lot so maybe I'm not the first to return this kit. After this expierience, I have lost a bit of faith in 5.0 Resto. They were good when they started out but now they are so big they can afford five pages of advertisement in several mustang mags. Anyway, I got a kit from Steeda and it was a bit more expensive and didn't include any gear oil, but it used name brand parts, not to mention it worked. If anyone is getting a 5-lug kit get it from Steeda, not 5.0 Resto! The Edelbrock 454 wheels look great with the Twilight Blue paint. Now I need some crome bullet mirrors to complement the spinners!
Congratulations!! I was wondering what had happened to you. Edelbrock 454s rock! What size did you get?
Looks like youve got 4 wheel disks. What parts did you use on the rear? And what springs do you have?
The rears are ranger axles with Lincoln mark VII rear disc 10.5". I just followed the guide online and it worked out pretty good. The fronts are twin piston 99+ mustang calipers on sn95 spindles (to keep the correct spacing). Springs are stock on the front and back, though the back have been cut in order to get rid of the 4x4 look! [QUOTE Edelbrock 454s rock! What size did you get?[/QUOTE] I got 17X8. I must admit however, they are not true Edelbrocks. Edelbrock as I understand it has stoped production of the 454 wheel and has sold off their molds and machining parts etc. to make the wheel. To find and purchase an original set of Edelbrocks can be quite pricy. The set of wheels that I got came from Custom Wheels Direct (I think that's what they were called) and the difference is that they don't say Edelbrock on them so that red rectangle logo on the rim is missing. I think it looks better without them anyway. For all four, it cost me around $600-$700. The Halibrand wheels look pretty nice too. I'd love to post some pics but I'm posting this at the base library and they have no scanner. I need a computer! But with the money I would use for a computer, I'd rather buy more stang parts!
Can you still run the stock 15" wheels with your conversion mr.woodster? And do you still have an E-brake?
Yes, you can run stock 15" wheels without a problem. If you run a cobra (13") front brake setup, then you need a 17" wheel minimum. Parking brake has yet to be resolved, from what i've read thats the "gray" area of this combo (no quick one of fix). I've read people have used the svo PB cable and that works. I have yet to resolve , or even attempt too, so I'm not much help there. ....brakes???lol you dont need those
