Did 67s come standard with rear seat seatbelts or were they an option? While doing the floor pans in the coupe I noticed 4 holes where the rear seatbelts should mount to the body that were filled in with seam sealer. I cleaned up the holes and found that they are threaded and the seat belt bolt fits perfectly. Guess ill be buying a set soon for the rear seat. Oh, will I need the rear seatbelts in for Texas inspection when I get to that point?
Where in N. TX are you? I am in the Keller area. I will also need to know if they are required. I will be putting them in though and considered the retractable kits for those as well. Do you have a cardomain site, or pics... send me the address. Please check mine out and my goal is the end of this caledar year!!! 2 more months.
Rear seat belts were federally mandated for all 1966 models. I'm not sure why someone would've seam sealed the holes on your '67, as it definitely had the belts originally.
Im over in Little Elm. I checked yours out, it looks really good, much further along that mine... I bought my coupe back in August and have driven it 4 times adding up to less than 1/2 a mile. #1 for a test drive around the block. #2 up on the trailer. #3 off the trailer. #4 around my neighborhood block. If everything goes as planned with servicing the brakes and doing tune on the engine, it should be ready for inspection by thanksgiving/christmas time. Here are some pics. (Before I did the floor pans)
I wouldn't worry too much about the seatbelt+inspection thing. My 67 doesn't have rear seatbelts either and I have never had an inspection station question me about or even notice really. Most of those guys aren't familiar with inspecting anything other than pretty new cars so they don't even think to look for something like that anyway. If they do ask you about it just say they weren't mandated at the time of production of the car, 99% of the time you won't get somebody who can actually say that is true or false, at least in my experience.
