Just joined up here with the hope to find info and sources for my 79 Mustang coupe build.

I've had this car for several years, bought it with a blown 4 cyl and promptly stripped it bare. I set it up on a rotisserie and did a bit of work on the body before life got in the way and the project went to the back burner (off the stove entirely truth be told). There were always other things that demanded funds and time that were more pressing than the car, so it sat consuming space in my garage for many long years.

Finally I have reached the point where I can realistically afford to do the car up properly as I want to and have some time to put into it. I got to work installing an SW Racing 10 point cage this week and have it all cut and fitted in now. I still need to do the final full weld up on it. I have also been prepping some parts lists and ordering items for it. I have a brake kit coming from North Racing with five lug conversion. I picked up an 8.8" diff a long time ago from an 88 GT, and have a 69 302 engine built up for it sitting in a crate. I have a c4 transmission presently, but am kind of leaning towards a manual now, not sure what to choose for sure on that.

My plan is to build the car for road course racing and or autocross, but I still want to have it street legal. It'll be a bare bones car, no frills whatsoever. Lean and lite is the goal.

Thanks. It was a bit of a decision to re-commit to this project, after all, for what I need to sink into it, I could just buy a nice ready to roll toy. But then what's the challenge in that. I do enjoy building and fabricating stuff, so as much as anything, this is entertainment. I hope that the "lean and light" plan will eliminate a lot of pricey stuff a typical restoration would entail. Still, I do need a lot of new parts before this car is back to life.
