    Hi guys,
i have a 92, 2.3, 8 plug automatic. Car ran fine after i just registered it. Today go to start and nothing. i tried starting in neutral, jiggling the shifter in park, jumping it-no start. the battery shows 12V on a meter and needle is on R on the guage, the fuel pump makes a noise when i turn the key, the door alert dings(when open) and the normal guage lights are lit while turning the key but thats all-no crank.
i am used to non sensor/computer engines, where do i start? Thanks in advance.

Same place you'd start on a non sensor/computer car. Check grounds, starter solenoid, ignition switch, starter and all the wiring in between.

Do you hear the starter solenoid clicking? If you do, then the problem is likely somewhere between the solenoid and the starter, including possibly being the solenoid. If you don't hear the solenoid clicking, then you need to check your neutral safety switch, ignition switch and the solenoid.

i'm pretty sure the neutral switch works, i hear the clicking in park and neutral but not in D. Can you "jump" the solenoid in these cars and not worry about frying something or setting off the air bag?

Setting off the airbag by jumping the starter solenoid? That's a new one on me. There's no reason you can't jump the terminals at the solenoid, but if the starter is the same as my '93, all the fender mounted solenoid just triggers the starter-mounded solenoid. But you can at least eliminate it as a problem.
