    Newbie here,
I just picked up a super clean 93 Cobra with 55K orig miles. After a few hundred miles it has developed a terrible noise I'm told is the throwout bearing. The clutch seems to still function as usual but the noise is scary. Should I replace the entire clutch with a stronger upgrade i.e. Centerforce Dual Friction Kit or just the throwout bearing. Either way I'm paying the same in labor charges. The car has a V1 Vortech SC, shorties,h-pipe, Flows. I was told it has been professionally tuned and is pushing 400hp. Is the stock clutch strong enough for this kind of power? I don't want to be a cheapskate with this car but it has already set me back a lot of $$$. This will be an occasional weekend cruiser and will probably never see a racetrack. Did I get in over my head with a SC'ed car and novice mech skills? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If it is still the stock clutch, it would be best to upgrade when the TO bearing is done. Why pay for labor twice, cause the stocker clutch will give out with that much power. If you are not planning on going to the track, then get a street clutch so you don't get clutch chatter from a too agressive clutch. Picking a clutch has lots of personal preferance, but centerforce dual would be a good one.
If the car has been tuned and safe, then you should be OK. You will need to change the spark plugs more than a stocker. The 400 hp sounds about right HP for the mods.

Thanks for the input. This is actually the wifeys car but guess who pays and stresses? I think that 400 hp is believable. We had the plugs changed before we took delivery but I think they are stock Motorcraft. I didn't plan on buying one of these already heavily modded so I'm very nervous about the whole thing. It was just exactly what we wanted for a fair price so we did it. I ordered the Centerforce clutch kit and TB bearing tonight so we'll see next week. So it begins...
    Thanks again
