I have a Dual Plug 1993 2.3 that's been running really bad lately, I plan to swap my built 2.3T motor in as soon as I get the rest of my exhaust parts made. In the meantime.... can I remove the DIS setup and replace it with a distributor that I have for the turbo swap? I really don't want to spend the $200 or more for a new module and coil packs to use for a few months. I have the stinger wiring swap pages but would like to save myself the splicing and cutting if the ECM won't recognize the distributor. HELP!

I dont know much about these, even tho i have the same 2.3 non in my 92. But a guy here took a 03 cobra and transplanted it in a 96 cobra and i beleive he ran a dist instead of coil packs? Isnt the turbo engine out of a tbird? If so i'd just put the ECM in it and use that dist. if it runs off one? peace

the fuel and timing curves are for a boosted motor......that isn't going to work too well :bang:

You will likely have to rewire to the turbo setup and run it that way. The turbo computer will run fine without the turbo. Personally though i would try and figure out why its not running right. Check your cam timing.

timing belt and tensioner were replaced 6 months ago.....cam timing was fine then and the car ran right...now the car runs like it's outta gas even though it has a full tank.

As stated, you could do the wiring portion of the turbo swap now and use the distributor and turbo computer...it will run fine, though it will most likely be a little less powerful and fuel efficient.

wouldn't the motor be overly rich with the turbo computer  ?

I bought some cheapie autolite plugs and Xact wires for $30 at autozone... apparently the previous owner was a little rough with the install of the old plugs and the DS rear plug's gap was completely closed..... It might also have helped that 4 of the 8 wires were damaged/burned.....let me go give her a test drive and i'll post results later. :nice:

Stinger...I will be contacting you soon for a full exhaust for my project. Are they available in stainless steel yet? I can't come up with a stock t3 exhaust housing so is it possible to order a 3" downpipe with internal wastegate?

    thanks!

I didn't think the TC ECMs liked the high impedence injectors the DP motors use. All it means is that you'd have to swap to your turbo motor's injectors for a little while. No big deal really, but you need to do it before you hurt your precious LA3. ;)

Rustbucket you are correct from what I read high impedence will toast the computer.
