I have a 1994 mustang with a 3.8 V6 that threw a rod. I'm looking at various rebuilt options for replacing the motor (both short and long block.) I found one long block option for an 88 3.8 v6 tbird motor, and another option for a 99-00 shortblock that are reasonably priced.

Does anyone have an idea of what years / models of cars for the 3.8 v6 that are compatible with each other?

The basic short block is the exact same, even included in Windstar minivans, not just Tbirds and Mustangs. Even the F150 V6s, theyre just "stroked" to a 4.2L. Theyre all the same in the long run, what you need to keep in mind is the setup you would want between the single-port V6 [94-98 mustang] or the split-port V6 [99-04].
