96-98 Cobra common problems?

  1. In the same vein as another post here, I'm interested in getting a '97 or '98 Cobra. Any common problems with these cars?

  2. Common problems in no particular order:
    Getting pulled over for racing
    Getting Speeding Tickets
    Spending a fortune on Tires
Deciding which chick you'll be taking with you

Seriously though - only thing I heard was the 97's had some kind of cooling issue.

    peace

  3. haha thats good!!! Thats sounds like enought problems to get one!!

  4. I've heard of a few people, besides me, having problems with ball joints and tie rod ends. I have a nice little squeak every time I turn the wheel.

Oh, if its got gears then it will have bald tires... but making them bald will be fun.

  5. I forgot- some run hot. Mine runs at the A in "normal" all year round. Also, the 96's have a TSB about this. The car was changed in 97 inorder to solve overheating problems of the 96.

  6. No major problems with mine, no overheating yet. Do have aproblem with keeping tires on it :rlaugh:

  7. Yeah tires are a big problem. It seems that a lot of the early 97's have had nearly the same heating problems as the 96. The other problem with the Cobra's is. Once you've had 32v. It's hard to drive a 2v even on a test drive.
