How do I tell if my cobra has had the upgrade? Also, my temp guage doesnt work. I posted a while back and everyone said just get an aftermaket (autometer). I dont want the stock one sitting there not working though. I replaced the sensor that screws into the front of the block but still doenst work. any idea as to how to fix it?
I'd try measuring the voltage coming off the sensor when it's cold and then when you start it up and let it warm up just to make sure it's changing. From there, I guess it's into the dash to see that the same voltage is getting to the gauge. Sorry there isn't an easy fix, that's the best I can do. As far as the cooling upgrade, look at the AC condensor and see if it has a ton of cooling fins or if it has about 15 fins per inch. If you have had the cooling fix, the AC Condensor will have the 15 fins per inch. HTHs
thanks for the help. I work at a body shop, so if it comes down to going into the dash it wont be to bad.
Also, to answer the other part of your question, go to the dealer and have them pull an OASIS (sp) on your vehicle. This contains the repair history for your vehicle for repairs performed at any dealership. You can see if any of them did the fix.
The '96 Cobra page from the "Crunch Colorado" site has some useful info: http://crunch.colorado.edu/~cobra/topics/96/96cobras.html http://crunch.colorado.edu/~cobra/gifs/anon-96cooling.gif http://crunch.colorado.edu/~cobra/gifs/lord-cooling-tsb.gif Besides inquiring about OASIS, you could also try calling SVT at 1-800-ford-svt to see if they can run through your car's history (via VIN#). Just another option, g'luck!
