Well just picked up my third 96 black mustang with a 5spd to finish off the collection lol. Its a 96 cobra with only 12,000 miles. Just going to drive it occasionaly and show it. However, I want to put a blower on it but dont know which one. Debating between Procharger, KB, and Vortech. Leaning towrds procharger bc of intercooler and stock motor and Laroccas is near me to have it tuned. They deal with procharger. Also I was thinking about 8psi on either, that I think would be safe. What u guys think?

the only bad thing is that you are limited due to your internals.

I would go KB for now only if you can find a 2.2, because they are more drivable, easier to install, and instant power/tq.

Then when you build your new motor, up the boost.

KB's are only available in a 2.1 for the first generation dohc's. This is up from the previously available 1.7.

I know what my car feels like with the 1.5 and can only imagine what a 2.1 would be like on a built motor with the boost turned up. When funds allow I will upgrade to the older style 2.0 or 2.2 with a bypass and then really have some fun.:D To answer the questions as to what blower KB is a definite unless you are building an all out race car. You will almost never see full boost with a Prochager or Vortech so the little extra top end power really wont matter much. Cruising at 25 mph in second and stepping on the gas will result in lots of tire smoke with the KB, all that torque and full low end boost is a blast on the street.

If Sat. before New Years is the date then I will put it on the schedule and see what I can do about being there to oversee the install. If it doesn't end up on my car first, it will be hard to resist with it laying around the house here.

Happy with my vortech. Summer of 2007, will be my 4th summer supercharged with no problems. Kept it at 8 lbs. I have beat a lot of people at the track and on the street. I am afraid of upping the boost without methanol, because I don't want to smoke my motor, I bought a house in May, so I have other expenses now.

I had an S-Trim on my 96 Cobra and i loved it. Kept it at 8psi as well. The top end pull is awesome. Was on my car for 2 1/2 years and driven almost every day with no problems..had a very safe tune on it though.
