hey guys, im looking at a 1997 cobra, needs a little work but thats not teally a big deal to me, the thing that bothers me is that it has a ticking noise and it goes with the rpms, car seems to drive fine although i didnt get on it hard but the guy said the tappets on driver side need to be replaced...1. how can i tell if it a tappet or a rod knock(motor ready to blow) 2. i think i read this was a common prob for 96 cobras, what about 97's? 3.how hard are the tappets to replace? please get back to me soon or email me at mhorn0817@hotmail.com
You'll more than likely be needing to get the heads replaced. It's common in all the 96-98 cobra's, well not common but it has happened to all those years.
