Hi again, I have an Air Compressor that is seized. I can buy a new one for 115 (mid range). What is involved in ""flushing"" the system? I mean I don't have any freon in there, and I can vacuum out the dryer myself. What else is involved? For removing all there is is the hoses connected to it, and the four bolts that hold it on. The new one comes with a new clutch.

I have had it priced to get it professionally fixed, but I'm not up for 800 smacks.:jaw:

Do you have a vacuuming device meant for A/C systems? Make sure you do it properly or you'll be going through another compressor. For flushing, you'll need to take it to a dealer or A/C service mechanic. It takes special equipment which basically circulates cleaning fluids through the whole system. If your AC has been sitting inactive for a long period, replace the accumulator drier.

Also make sure you replace the orifice tube. It's a small plastic filter inserted within the compressor Inlet. It filters and regulates freon.Only a few bucks for a new one.
