I just finished putting A/C on my car. The problem is the clutch on the compressor will catch only for a couple seconds at a time. It turns on and off. Why would it do this? I need help quick because I am moving to Arizona on Sunday...THanks...

    exactly
    1) your Pressure Safety switch is bad
    2) You dont have enough refrigerant in the system to make it stay on. If you just installed it i have to assume you are using R134A and NOT r12. I would pick up a leak tester, or a check gauge and see how much pressure is in the system. Also did you use a used Dryer (black canister) They should be Replaced each time the system is opened. You lose alot of efficency if the dryer is old or "full"

I did reuse the dryer....It has about 25 lbs in ther now so I know I could add some more. Is there anything else too look for when converting to r134a?

    THanks....
