this is really not good.... my car was running fine sunday night. i was a ittle low on gas (93) so i decided to wait to fill up on monday morning before i went to school. i filled up with BP 93 octane gas. as i was getting onto the highway i didnt puzh it hard because there wasnt much traffic. later that day i had to get onto the highway to go home and i got on it. pretty much WOT. and i noticed that it started to detonate.

    could it be bad gas!

I'd say it's a very distinct possibility. Too much water or ethanol in it or something. Pour some Seafoam or octane booster in it. That always seems to shut mine up.

i just filled her up at a nother gas station with 93. im gonna wait a day or two to make sure it mixes in and then see if i still get detonation.

if its not the gas any idea on what it could be?

    It's already "mixed in".

If it's not the gas it's either too much timing, too hot of air, too little fuel (because of extremely cold/dense air), or bit more boost than it was running before...

the above mentioned things could be out of spec on its own.

Too much ethanol causing detonation? Not really. It has an octane of 112 or something.

There are too many myths about ethanol. Another I read on the forums, was that they use more ethanol in the winter. Not true at all. If anything, they'd use less ethanol because it doesn't have good vapor pressure in cold weather, which can cause some hard starts (but I doubt anyone would notice unless they are running E85).

its not detonation... it turns out after some more diagnosis that it is misfiring. i cant tell if it is 1 cylinder or all of them. possible just 1 which me think that a spark plug is bad. im gonna replace all of the plugs and do the wires also just to be sure.
