I guess the answer lies in how much tuning knowledge you bring to the table. One could say that they ar all user friendly once you get to know the software but as I and others have discovered it takes time to get to know the ins and outs of the system. The devil is in the details and little things. These are the things that take time to learn and understand.

I think Richard summed it up quite well :nice:

NO interface is gonna be SO USER FRIENDLY that it will tune your car
without you having SOME basic knowledge :Word:

I guess you could say tuning all boils down to spark and fuel :)
    however
One needs to know if they need to + or - the values
    and
Have some way of know if the change yielded the desired results ;)

Yes it will be much easier than any other tuning device (short of dropping your car off and writing a check)

Which generation is it? I had the first one and tuned a h/c/i 302, a 351 h/c/i, and then an explorer motor with a cam. It seriously is as easy as cake.

People really shouldnt put tuning with a PMS into the same conversation as the tweecer/quarterhorse. Yes you need to know timing and fuel values for each one but thats where the comparison stops. Its as simple as + or - with the PMS....no funny charts to decode. RPM - timing or RPM - fuel.

Get a wideband....make small adjustments at a time. Its easy.

I'd have to agree.. Its a complete different category than the table based units like the tweecer or quarterhorse..

I think its worth it, especially if its the second generation one and is fairly new.

I have no doubt whatsoever you can tune it yourself with the pms with few problems compared to the quarterhorse or tweecer RT

#1 Find someone that is an expert at tuning THAT particular puter.
#2 EXPLAIN to them what you want out of it clearly or any troubles you are having.
#3 Remember that LT's can throw a tuner off with our cars because the puter adjusts after a coupla days.

I'd have to disagree. Finding someone means paying someone.

Not everyone wants to have a guy do it for them. Some people do it themselves....thats why they are self tuners. If he wanted to find someone to do it, why not just go to a shop and drop it off for a few hours?

I've never had problems with LT's throwing off a tune i made with the PMS.

With the PMS you dont need an expert and u damn sure dont need to be one. ESPECIALLY with a wideband. And with all the resources available u dont need to be an expert with a tweecer/quarterhorse. You just have to do a bit more reading/studying to understand what the hell u are looking at. The PMS simplifies all that for u.

With all the tunes out there that are readily available for downloading, all the forums, all the experts (like grady) who have been doing it for years, u dont have to go out and find someone to do it for u unless u either cant figure out something yourself for whatever reason, or u simply dont want to do it.

Staying on subject (I guess). When I tried the tweecer it never seated right. I had trouble with it attaching properly to the connector and car kept shutting off as a result. Lightly sanded the connector and everything. Nothing but trouble. Plus I don't have time to play around learning another o.s. Period.
