    hey -

This is the first car i've had that i'm doing any mods to. I have no friends that work on their cars, so I have no idea what shops exist or are worth going to. Right now the only thing I need to have done is install Eibach Pro Kit and panhard bar... and all the adjustments that go with it. I'm nervous about taking the car to a regular tire place because of the possibility of their lack of knowledge or care. Can anyone recommend any good shops in the metro detroit area or southern michigan? I'm also interested in shops that have a dyno. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I have had experience with both Paul's and Livernios. They are both good shops I would say to go with Paul's between the two. But both have prices to match their quality, so be ready to pull out the wallet.

I live in metro detroit and have had my car tuned at Alternative Auto. The owner Lidio, is very good at what he does and can be found in mustang mags all the time. He personally doesn't own a dyno but uses one locally. He also has a laptop setup and does full driveability test and tune.

As for the tire place you dont want to go to, look up a place called crane alignment also in Mt. Clemens with Alternative. They do custom rides, hot rods, and exotics. Its family owned and the owner does everything by hand (old school) and feel.

If you are just lookin for a dyno run their is Maximum Motorsports on Van Dyke in Shelby Twp., they offer cheap runs, Ive never personally been there.
Also, the shop sometimes used by Lidio, Automotive Performance in Mt.Clemens, has a dyno. They are very reputable and are GM guys but will dyno your car no problem.

Hope to give you some choices and maybe see ya cruisin this summer.

About 3 years ago I dealed with Livernios. They are a good shop but they did jerk me around quite a bit, I wouldn't go back. Made some tall statements on what my car would do. Couldn't deliever and kept telling me more and more parts I needed to get to meet what they originally told me and still wasn't close.

Cliff note: Talked me into dropping a lot of money on things I learned later I never needed.

I just want to make sure I understood correctly... is crane alignment a good place? I'm under the impression that they are, but just wanted to make sure i'm not misunderstanding. thanks everyone for the advice

i'm glad to hear that there are some quality shops in the area, i don't mind paying a little more to make sure it's done right the first time

hope to see you all out in the streets

    Yes

Yes, Crane is an excellent shop, I have not heard anything bad about them. They have done my 93 lx and many others. They are also a good value, not to high priced. :nice:

For suspension setup and tire installation an *excellent* place to go is ATI Performance Engineering in Wixom. They've done some pretty wild stuff (including a Cobra V8 transplant into a Focus!). Work is top notch. :nice:
