Yeah, ill be there all weekend. My local club (chicagoland mustang club) is one of the sponsors- we'll all be parked together in the show. Feel free to stop by.
I'll be there Thursday thru Sunday. Our club the "Illinois Valley Stampede" is also a club sponsor again this year. Stop by the tent and say Hey! Planned on taking the '68 but things didn't work out so I'll have the red '03 Mach1 with the club logo's on the quarter windows. See ya there!!
Just got home. It was a great time. Our club was setup right in the front by the starting line along the fence.
PJ, I saw your car when you all were taking pics by the 10x10 popup, I don't know how I missed it all weekend. I was sitting in the stands and just too tired to go over. We left the track at 8pm, drove all night and got home at 8 am. I took a shower and headed to work, fixing to head home now. One of my buddies had the red tube chassied '65 Falcon, it only made one pass, Thursday late afternoon, ran a 8.81 @ 149 I think. We checked the clutch and both the flywheel and pressure plate inserts were toast. Car should run in teh 8.40's or 8.50's. My other buddy had the blue back halved '66 Mustang coupe that was pulling the monster wheelies with no wheelie bars, ran a best ever 9.84. He had all 10 WFC stickers on the back window as he has raced at all 10 WFC's, probably one of the few that have. I think one of the Pro 5.0 guys, Chuck Samuels has as well. Anyways, he blew a head gasket between #6 & #7 and it torched a notch in his aluminum head on Saturday, 3 round of ET1, so he was done. Our third guy has a red Fox hatch and he went out 2nd round on Sunday (was taken out by the blue notch on Saturday, DOH!!). I'm beat, can't wait to sleep in my own bed.
Damn, sounds like you had a good group of guys there. I remember the blue coupe pulling wheelies- that car was badass. We stayed in Indy last night and left Monday morning for Chicago. WFC was awesome- except for the announcers who i wanted to strangle. I cant wait for next year! Anyways, heres the picture I think youre talking about:
Reb, have you ever been to a WFC before? Well, there were at least 3 and maybe 4 announcers. Dr. Jamie Meyer is the main one that announced during the big boys, he's the one that would get excited all the time. Chip Havermann was the other one during that time and he used to race EFI Renegade, Limited Street, Super Street Outlaw and most recently, Pro Outlaw. A lot of the stuff they were saying and goofing about were things that you'd have to follow the racers and the series pretty closely to understand. The other guy/guys that announced during the brackets were Indy track announcers. Dr Meyer is a real doctor, a brain surgeon in fact. But this was his last WFC to call as he went to work for GM Performance Parts in their marketing. He was recently on the Speed Power Block with Courtney Hansen giving away a GM crate motor. I 'got' all the comments and found it funny and entertaining, but I could see how you wouldn't like it if you didn't know.
I didnt mind the racer jokes, its when they started hitting on each other and talking about blowing each other kisses and random crap. PS: Rebel is the black vert with the ginormous cowl next to my turd in that pic. And where was Kurgan all weekend? They kept mentioning him, lol. I need him to tune my junk soon
