well being stuck in Alaska for a 3 year PCS I am going to have to buy a new stang blind and not see it until it's shipped up here. Found one thats caught my eye but the price is a little to good I think. Can someone check 1FAFP42X41F144436 for me please? I would really appreciate it. If you have unlimited and feel generous I have a couple others to check ;)

in return if appreaciate any links you have for thigns I should look for when inspecting a 02 GT with high mileage. I have been looking at a few and have noticed several common issues. Valve covers leaking and oil buildup right under where the oil filter goes. Im assuming from where the oil filter is located, its just runoff but im wondering if it could be powersteering fluid as well? thanks

the first time i changed the oil on my 04, i spilled oil on the car under the oil filter. its just very poor placement of an oil filter.

as a side note, i flew into denver last spring and we rented a new Toyota 4-Runner. the oil filter is mounted on top of the engine...man those japs think of everything!

Thanks so much for the carfax. As far as what to look for, the throw out bearing in most manual tranny cars is often noisy. I seem to remember valve tick being a slight issue in the new model 4.6 such as 01 up I think. The oil filter placement does suck ass. Leaky valve covers is most likely cheap factory gaskets. The cars also have heater core problems sometimes so always check the heater, unlike me. Make sure it hasn't been bypassed. Tranny grinding going into gear is another thing. Do some serious shifting on test drive and don't just baby it. Also seems people do cheap gear installs so the rear end may whine. Power accessories are known issues. Power window regulators can be a PITA to fix and are known to break.

Check here for TSB articles that will give you tons of known issues and recalls!

If anyone else gets bored I have a couple other cars I am considering all over the country and would like checked ;)

You should see where they used to be on those 4 Runners before they put it up top, it was a joke. 99-04 oil filters aren't that bad, just put a rag underneath where the oil will come out and that will keep it clean.
