seems like a lot of good info has been given. u might want to go over to caraudio.com really good forums for for car audio stuff. I woudltn worry to much bout the rms of the amp, unless your going for heart pounding bass. You will be happy once you get it all tuned. OH and I didnt read you setup. BUT ported box is the way to go man! Ateast it is my preferece. I like using PSP aero ports, easy to use and tune the box. But like I said, check out those forums, search for your sub, and you will be able to see what kind of boxes people are runing with that sub...
It only has 1 Audio plug for the input? I have done tons of systems and have never seen an amp with only one rca input
So I shouldn't worry about rms? I should at least make sure the amp has enough rms to power the sub though right?
Have you tried pluggin the plugs into there respective colors? Even though it says output, see what happens.
mob, i would worry about rms..... and i also have never seen only one input for a amp.....and like i said im not going to hate on your stuff, but visonik is that amp looks like a guitar amp or something, did you tyr your bros amp.....?
No, I got it working guys. I didnt realize the sub was a DVC because it was already in the box from when my brother had taken it out of his car. I took the sub out and man what a wiring mess my brother and his friend did. It was wired at 4 ohm. So I just did all new wiring and wired it at 2 ohms. The amp actually isnt bad, the sound quality is fantastic, no noise, and the sub bumps even on the lowest gain, when I turn the gain up to half way it hits HARD, I didnt even turn it up all the way because there was no need. I am not trying to win a bass contest just want to have good sound quality so this amp will do. I am not sure if this amp is 2 ohm stable so I am just going to run it until it blows up or something, I have no complaints about this amp though other than the fact that you need a DVC or more than one sub (in which case it wouldnt have enough power to power both), but for my case its perfect. Thanks for the help guys.
ah iasked you if the sub was factory boxed or not, that was my other guess, but glad to see you got it working......
not sure what each of your coils are rated at, but you can wire it up to one coil only and the sub will work just fine
told u not to worry bout RMS cause you would be pleased. I have an elemental designs nine.1 amp which pushes about 1300RMS around 13.4 volts( its underated), but most of the time I have it set around 40% gain. Someday ill get a nice sub, that can handle a good 800-1000RMS and really blast some tunes. Ive wanted an FI Q 10" sub for a little while now...
sorry just my poor attempt at humour to compensate for my complete lack of knowledge on the subject. won't happen again.
maybe he could position the sub backwards towards the rear of the car to get the DB's to move him forward
