Just wondering if anyone here has transported a car cross-country before. Any tips? I just purchased car in Oregon and need to get it to Wisconsin.
I paid $800 open trailer for that same trip. It took a couple of weeks, but if the car is driveable (for them to load), it's the cheapest way to go.
I put a bolt on hitch on my II back in 1988 and rented a 2 wheel car dolly rolled front wheels on and pulled a 1980 Merc capri from N.C to TX just remove the drive shaft and becareful when straddling large objects on the road. By raising the front wheels it lowered the back end considerably But I made it relatively unscaved barring the pinhole in the gas tank which came from a large piece of concrete rock that fell off the truck just ahead of me..
