I now have flowmasters w slp LT & O R X-pipe, I love the sound but the drone is killing me. Went on a 400 mile trip & now I need to change. Or is there another muffler w/ no drone? Any help would be helpful.

I put Corsa Axel-Back exhaust on my 2007 Stang recently for about $800 and something including labor and tax. I am happy with them even though I think they are a little too pricey but they were exactly what I wanted. They are loud when they need to be and no drone. And an upgrade over stock exhaust in performance (+13.1 HP) and sound quality. I went with Corsa because I didn't want exhaust where everyone (the neighbors, cops shooting radar) to hear me before they saw me. Corsa is a little throatier than stock exhaust on idle and sound great when you step on it. The sound of Corsa exhaust reminds me of Corvette.

The Corsas are great. Just be warned that if you go with an offroad pipe (NO CATS) at some point, they will be LOUD. With the factory midpipe or aftermarket cats, they sound great but with an offroad pipe they will be much, much louder.

I have also heard that if you add and offroad X or H pipe, you will have a continous "Check Engine" light on because of a catalytic converter sensor.

any O/R pipe will cause a check engine light (CEL). you are removing the cats, and need to compensate for it somehow. either MIL eliminators, or turning off the rear O2 sensors in your tune will do the trick. the MIL eliminators are about $60. if you ever plan to modify your car beyond simple exhaust mods, you will need a tuner anyway so you might as well do it right the first time f you have the cash. if money is tight, then the MIL eliminators will work with little cash out of pocket.

Thanks for the info. I was told that I would have to spend about $800 to add a Pypes O/R H pipe that would correct the check engine light problem.

i bought my pypes O/R H from brenspeed with the MIL eliminators for like $220 shipped. install is very easy using only common hand tools and ramps under the front tires. dont overspend on this mod. :nice:

but...back on topic...are corsas worth the money?

Totally worth it if you want ZERO drone and a ****in sound at WoT.

You can get them on Ebay for $550 shipped if you wait long enough. (I did)

    Any warranty concerns with these?

whose their main competitor in terms of no drone?

I love my stock exhaust, it would only want it slightly more loud

Warranty concerns are with every aftermarket part. But as its been said over and over and over again it wont void an entire warranty just if any problems arise from the moddification. (ie if the radio goes out it has nothing to do with your corsa exhaust ergo its under warranty. However if lets say something happens directly because of the mufflers then its all you to fix it)

However I wanted to ask the guys with the Corsa exhaust on how they sound with the O/R pipe. I have the Bassani O/R X with the Bassani mufflers and it sounds AWESOME idle and low RPMs but it drones and sounds horrible at WOT. Would these be better? Any raspy noise or anything ricey? I want a new exhaust but I dont know if Corsa is the way to go with my O/R X.

Yah I should clarify that my experience with my Corsas involves using the stock h-pipe and cats. No after market there.

the guy at your muffler shop is a smart dude.....

The Corsas with an offroad H pipe are LOUDER than the Borlas with the same pipe. Funny, because with the factory catted midpipe, the Corsas were much more quiet than the Borlas. Once you start moving air thru the Corsas, they open up and scream like a redneck at an opera! :rlaugh:

I took my Corsas off as they weren't loud enough. They also weigh a helluva lot over the stock ones. They certainly lived up to the zero drone claim though. I had some stainless steel ones custom-made in the end. Now I have a better sound and hardly any drone at all but that's through stock cats.

My Magnaflows don't drone. They're the full sized Magnaflows, not the Magnapacks. Sound just a little louder then stock at idle and really open up at WOT. I also have them on my 90 5.0 with a Prochamber... Zero drone and sounds awesome.
