Hi again all, I'm new to this modding thing and was looking for some advice. I was looking to upgrade my axle back and then saw some people upgrading to dual exhaust.

I'm leaning toward an axle back as I don't have a lot of experience with modding cars and I don't want to put 'too much money' into it.

What would you recommend? Brand, price, etc. I'm looking for something that is loud but not offensive.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    GT Take-Off

I installed a GT take-off on my V6 that I purchased on-line for $50. (GT owners install aftermarket exhausts and sell the take-offs) I had a local muffler shop do the install. Also the tip may stick out more than desired. I cut mine back about one inch and installed a GT stainless tip. Overall, it's great! (improved sound and less restrictive).

Thanks for the response DHT. Were any other modifications necessary such cutting, welding or engine tuning or is it a straight-forward swap?

    Thanks again.

Personally my preference is a true duel exhaust. I installed the Pypes true duels with Flowmaster muffler just this past Monday and am loving it. It all depends on what you're looking for really.

very nice Kevin! looks good. Did you have to make any modifications to the rear fascia (cut outs)?

    Thanks!

Yes, we had to do a cut out for the exhaust tip. I had it done at a local performance shop but I understand it was fairly easy. They measured the one where the single exhaust is and did the cut outs based on that. The sound of this set up is fantastic. I'll try to get some sound clips added at some point. Although I've found the clips tend to not do it quite as much justice.

    GT Muffler Take-Off

    09stang,

The GT muffler was a straight bolt on. The mid-pipe might have to be adjusted to align the exhaust tip with the facia opening. Great sound. And it even gave me an extra 1/2 MPG!

Sorry for all the questions, but again, I am new at this. I am looking for something that is easy to install, requires no engine re-tuning, sounds cool when I start the engine and at idle and under acceleration. is that too much to ask!?

I've been looking on American Muscle at all of the choices, catbacks, dual set-ups etc and just want something that is a reasonable cost.

    Thanks again.

There are several ways you can go true duals like stated by Kevin which I'm betting was 5-600 and theres single to dual exit in which is 5-600 If you want cheap then just get a GT takeoff.
    I have Magnaflows 16605 :)

Thanks again for the replies. Can I put one of these on?

Pypes 409 Stainless Steel Violator Axle-Back with Polished 304 Tip. Of course it's for a GT, so I would only need one. Is only one available?

    Thanks.

In my opinion dualing out a 6 makes it sound a bit raspy, the option I'm going with is the Borla axelback exhaust, it takes away almost all restriction and gives you a gain of about 7-10 horses and the same on torque, it'll run about $375 though but thats also cause you're paying for Borla.
