Okay, it's an over used cliche... so sue me. Anyway, found these two Saleens on Collector Car Trader Online: http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/5/1/80947551.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/6/1/81340761.htm There are other Saleens currently listed, but these two caught my attention. I'm not a big fan of black, but if either of these are legitimate, they could prove to be pretty decent acquisitions for the right person; particularly the '95 S351.
I've seen the '95 S351 in person at a local car show. Really clean and low mileage car. I think the asking price is a bit too high, especially since it is a non-R code car.
With it being a non-sc car the price is way out. Granted, it may be clen and low mileage but, they jsut don't bring that kind of money. I know of a local black 95 that is low mile and fully optioned R-code car that could be bought for a few bucks more!
If it is an early '89, that would explain it. I've seen some early '89s sporting the '87-'88 "tri-bar" decals. I know it's been mentioned before, but it basically depended on what Saleen had on hand in order to ship the cars out.
Perhaps the asking price is a wee bit optimistic, but that's why there's something called "negotiation" or "haggling." If the owner wants to sell it bad enough, he/she will accept a reasonable, realistic offer. It certainly worked for me as both seller & buyer.
Me too. I've seen a fair few '89 Saleens sporting the '88 style rocker stripes; enough to conclude that they weren't added after the fact by their respective owners. It's just like foxbody states; Saleen installed whatever components were readily available to keep cars going out the door even if it meant previous years components wound up on current year cars.
Right. It was a crapshoot then. My 89-0028 came with the stripes in the trunk but were the 89 variety. Who knows, maybe they ran out that week?
I've seen where several came with the stripes in the trunk, I figured they did that because they were trying to meet production numbers on time and just didn't have time to install them, who knows......
My dearly departed '89 Saleen was one of those that had the uninstalled rocker stripes "in the trunk". I left them off for about a year or so until my next door neighbor purchased an '89 coupe in the same color scheme as mine including the uninstalled stripes so I had my stripes installed to differentiate our cars.
Nah, You requested it with the stripe delete at the dealer. Then they came shipped with the car rolled up in the hatch.
