I've been looking for back window louvers for a while now and recently found one I like at MRT-Direct. Does anyone have these or have experience installing them? The site doesn't really tell much about how they attach to the car. Or does someone know of some that are better but have a similar look?
I haven't seen the MRT, but a few friend have the Silver Horse, BBR, and Street Scenes and all of them are happy
Louvers for the back window. I've seen some that have a bunch of slats but I don't care for them. I like the Boss style much better.
I have the ROUSH louvers got them for 120 bucks already painted to match, super easy install just 3M VHB tape and stick on, i tried pulling on them and i think i would break the window before removing them without a chemical or a razor blade. here is a pic.
I have the MRT rear window louvers on my 07 GT. I like 'em. They were a little tricky to install, at least I thought they were. Definitely take your time and make sure you get them positioned where you want them, because once that 3M adhesive is down, it's not coming off. I get lots of compliments on the look of them.
OK, I guess I am still confused because I thought he wanted the BACK (single) window (rear single glass) louvers, not the side window louvers. Any photos of those?
you are correct, stan. I'd like to see some photos as well, as I've been considering this mod. retro, I have some bad news for you... those aren't roush louvers.
stanmckinney, here is the picture that the web site has. I'm not looking at the quarter window louvers. It is hard to tell how they are attached.
It attaches with six pads that glue down to the window. The two top-center pads are hinged to allow for the entire assembly to lift up for cleaning the window. There are two top outer ones that just sort of hold the corners down, but do not interfere with the hinging action. Finally, there are two lower pads that have catches on them. This allows you to lock the louvers in place as well as unlock them to swing the louvers up so you can clean the window. The pads have 3M adhesive tape on them and they are really very secure. I have absolutely zero concerns about the pads ever coming free on their own. I can take some detailed photos of all of this and post them if it would be useful to anyone. Just say the word.
Price? I had some a long time ago on a 1990 Mustang. At 60 or faster the edges would actually lift off the car.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, I was at work and just grabbed some quick shots. Plus, you know, I really suck photography. Also, the car is dirty and sporting its ugly winter wheels, so please forgive. You can see the hinge pads that are at top and the latch pads down at the bottom corners. I didn't get a good shot of the top corner pads, but they help restrain the whole assembly so that it will not catch wind and want to lift like the ones that Stanmckinney describes. Installation wasn't too hard, but if I had to do it over again I'd probably raise it up on the window 3/4 of an inch or so. Overall, though, I'm pleased with them. I've had them since the summer and they've been quite solid and secure.
They look pretty good. Is that where the template puts them on the window? That does look like a rather large gap at the top.
No, the template mounts it up higher, in my opinion too high. It's just an aesthetic issue, I wanted them mounted a bit lower, but I took it too far. I might order another kit of mounting hardware and re-do it at some point, but it seems like $50 for the hardware kit is kind of a lot just to move the thing up 3/4" on the window.
