I was plagued with water spots and finally decided to do something about it. All of the spots on the paint are now gone except for under the spoiler; I still have some work to do there. I did learn a valuable lesson for removing the spots from the glass. I used 0000 steel wool on the windshield and side glass with great results. I then went to clean of the mirrors without thinking about the glass being different, well, it is. I now have small scratches on the mirror glass. They are not that bad but can be seen if looked at from the right angle. I guess I will need to polish the glass now with a glass polish unless someone has a better suggestion.
I love detailing my car with Lucas Slick Mist. Spray, wipe off and the waterspots are GONE leaving the car nice and shiny.
i was always told not to do use steel wool on glass as well... i don't understand why, but yeah it definitely scratches. good advice!
50/50 Isopropyl alcohol and water mix in a spray bottle. Caution this will remove any wax you have on whatever you spray but it removes tons of contaminants from the paint and all water spots. Does not hurt the clearcoat. I have my own business as a mobile car detailer
Ive never tried the Lucas stuff but I would recommend Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer, comes in a blue spray bottle. Also their spray on wax is great when you dont have time or feel like actually taking the time to wax the car.
As far as water spots, I never get them and NEVER dry my car(dark candy apple red). After washing I simply use the Mr. Clean sprayer set to the filtered setting and spray the car...tadahhh. dries without spots. Drying your car is just another just chance for micro scratches. I've also just learned that the cheap microfiber towels you buy at Wal-Mart and parts store can cause scratches due to their inferior overseas manufacturing.
