Me and a friend were driving up 11w heading up to bristol to try and run a gt mustang that is supposed to have a bunch of crap done thats been running his mouth. On the way we pass a bp and i see a 03-04 black cobra sitting there. I had been wanting ot run a stock one for a while. SO i stop. Low and behold it has knoxville tags. Im like hmmm....didnt look like svt madman so i waited on the owner to come out. WE talk a minute and he is telling me how impressed he is with the car. It had 13k on it and was bone stock. I proceed to ask him if he would mind doing a little pull with me from a roll. He asked what im driving . I point to my eclipse, he kinda chuckled and said sure. So we go out onto 11w doing about 15mph. Im in first, so is he. Im just really excited i get ot run one. HE shouts go, i just florr it like a moron. He takes off and pulls a car. Im like why isnt my car going? Then it hits me like a kick in the rear. I didnt slip it a bit or rev it up and dump it. So by the time i spooled, he had a car or so. I stay the same distance all the way to about 90 or so when we shut down. They guy is like wow. Im like can we do it again, just once more. He is like sure. This time he comes to a stop and wants to go from a stop. Apparently he didnt know i was awd. I rev it up, he shouts go, i pull 2 cars off the launch. 2nd, 3rd gear he stays about 1.5-2.0 cars back. He cant reel me in and i cant pull away. He said he had some kind of problem with a gear, i said i understand, he wants to go again. WE come to a stop ....he either just jumps or is trying to heat the tires up a bit. He then stops again and he hollars go, i do another 5500 rpm launch and smoke rolls up over the hood of my car from spining so bad. I still pull him a car or two off the line. I am ahead and he isnt pulling till i try to go into 3rd. It wont go (clutch needs to be adjussted very badly)so i keep trying and get it to go in right as he catches up. By the time i build boost its over with . He slows down is like hell yeah, gives me a thumbs up. I am like my car wouldnt go into 3rd. He is like yeah i heard it. Then he goes on his way back to knoxville. He was a super nice guy, him and his buddy. Anyways finally got to run my first 03-04 cobra and i wasnt dissapointed. Makes me want one later on. I just will have to wait till i get the gsx paid off and finsihed. I might get one to play with here ins a bout 5 years or so

Racing a modified AWD turbo pocket rocket from a stop = for us slowbies. Good race though. Too bad you guys didn't get a chance to race from a roll, too. AWD souns like a lot of fun from a stop but you can't beat a bulletproof, forged and blown V8. It's not fair how much gains they see from mods compared to us n/a cobras.
we did go froma roll on the first run. I just got excited and didnt think to slip the clutch or dump it a bit. Im use to my car having a differ o2 housing (exhaust piece that comes after the turbo before the rest of the exhaust) and hitting boost soon as i hit the throttle. I had to put on a 2.0" one compared to the 2.5" one. It has killed my cars spool and top end but im changing that this week. Honestly on all the pulls he didnt pull away but i didnt reel him in any or vice versa. It seemss we have about the same exact pull right now

Sounds like you got one fast Eclipse, congratulations! You got to admit though a stock 03'-04' Cobra is pretty fast .
Yeah, they get up and go. My car isnt that fast right now. Its quick but i dont call it fast by no means, at least not yet
Seems your final result will be a fast car which rattles, pops the windows and needs work daily. I'll stick with my velvety smooth Cobra with 484hp to the rear wheels and perfect, showroom driveability.
Actually the rattles arent bad. They have been taken care of. Doesnt need work daily, no more than your cobra. I never asked you not to stick with your cobra. No need to hate something because it can compete and get better gas mileage.

you should definately be close. I think you can...it all depends on the driver too. I really like this board because most of the guys are respectful no matter what you drive. Only a few that arent.
