Finally getting the car back together. Original no start problem was no compression in the #1 caused by broken ring. Reassembly is in progress. I did not assembly the rockers last time, but my friend can't help, so I'm on my own.

What is the best method to assure correct installation of 1.7 pedestal mount RR?

There is no trick to pedestal mount rockers they just get torqued down. You do not have to adjust them.

That is a bit misleading. You have to check the geometry with pedestals just like any other rocker. The difference is that once everything is OK and you have the proper swept area and lifter preload via the coorect shims/pushrod length they can be torqued down. Pedestals are a royal PITA to get setup properly the first time, but they are a cake walk if it ever needs to be done again if you don't change anything else on the engine.
