ok I just blew the trans in my 97 cobra, I went to drop it in 2nd and it was gone (loud crunch). Parked it and then went to drive it again and had 1 and 2 thats it.... Whats the best replacment? T-56? Lucky me a freind said tonight that I can use his blown 93 cobra while he is at arizona FALL league, too bad for me! Anyone know where to get the best deal on a new trans? I may install myself, has anyone done this? any help would be great!!!!!!!!!!
i think u can use a T56, not sure if the bellhousing is the same. a tranny swap is easy and you can probably do the whole thing in 4-6 hours with a lift, maybe even faster. find out if the T45-T56 bellhousing is the same and u are in there! dont forget to service the tranny!!
does anyone know where I can pick up a t-56? I live in Lake Tahoe Ca. I might have a lift to use too! Any help would be great.
the t-45 bellhousing is integrated to the tranny. you can get a t-56 to mount to our cobras just let them know what aplication you have when ordering. as far as instillation goes it will be a pain in the ass,i took mine out AND IT SUKED! not as easy as a 5.0 t-5. i got a used t-45 tranny if ur interested.

Saleen always has trannys around from pulling them out of cars, give them a call, a buddy of mine got his from them after he destroyed his peace
hey thanks guys, I think maybe I did not blow it because there was no smoke or anything like that, I think maybe it was the shift forks broke or something like that. The cluch still works, and when I put the shifter in neutral and let off the clutch it is still in gear.... weird huh thanks again for the help
