I know this isnt mustang related, but its been a concern to me. As far as I know, Ford has been renoun (spelling?) for comming out with some things thats pretty much on top of the car market. Now, im talking about stock models, but these are boosted in someway: Chevy: Cobalt SS Dodge: SRT4 Saturn: ION redline Ford: ????? Ford doesnt have anything to compete in the american market. They have the SVT Focus, but all 3 of those cars put it to shame. I think Ford should do something. If I remember right, werent they supposed to come out with an AWD turbo car?
In a roundabout way, the Mazdaspeed 6 is. It's the newer Duratec 2.3L four, turbo-intercolled, 6-speed, AWD. Unfortunately, it's a 4-door.
Ford stopped making the SVT Focus a few years back so SVT could prepare the future Cobra Mustang. Well worth the Focus' time-out IMO. Now that they're coming out with the Adrenalin, I'm sure next will be a Lightning followed by a Focus or some high performance four cylinder. They really need to get in the mix, the 4 cylinder performance market is growing very fast. And with gas prices the way they are, why not go for it?
I was looking at the mazdaspeed 6, and needless to say, that thing is a monster, but its up there with the evo and STi. especially in price. But 274 horses aint that bad for a family car. I think they focus could've had more potential than it did. Im not so big on the adrenaline. I dont think very many people will buy it. The lightning is good enough, as well as the cobra. The SVT focus shouldve been turbocharged, or supercharged, and not to say have AWD. If it was, it would've killed everything out there in its class.
well thats fine and dandy. BUt what about the american market. I dunno why they left us out. ISnt it the Focus RS thats turbocharged? I thought they were doing something with cosworth as well. But what would be a good car for ford to step back up to the plate with.?
