Well I was thinking about getting a 03 cobra. But I want to know what the stock car can handle. I was thinking of getting a KB 2.6 or 2.8. Can the enigne handle that? Other than the clutch, what else couldn't. I'm hoping for around 800 ponys. Or could I get more. Thanks
The bottom end is pretty strong and capable of handling an estimated 1000HP. The weak area is the PTW clearences. Getting 800 out of a 2.6 or 2.8 will take quite a few suporting mods to accomplish it (fuel system & cooling). U.M.
Yea the cooling system all right. But what other than the injecters need to be changed out? Rails? Fuel lines? Fuel tank? A little help
fuel pumps. you can get a BAP(Boost A Pump) which increases the power going to the pump and makes it run more fuel to the rail. I have not seen anyone really replace the fuel lines, i dont think theyre a bottleneck. You will need to upp the fuel system if going with a KB and you will need dyno time.
As far as fuel system requirements a BAP and some 60lb injectors will most likely suffice, but as a safety measure most guys run bigger pumps and some even go with an all new larger fuel lines & rails too. Depends on how safe you want to feel. When asking that little 4.6 to crank out 800HP the last thing you want to do is let it go lean because it couldn't get enough fuel. If you are REALLY serious about doing this head on over to the 03/04 Cobra forums at www.ModularPerformance.com Be mindful over there and READ as many of the posts on the subject as possible, and trust me... everything you need to know on how to extract 800 HP out of your car is already there for the taking, you'll just need to search. Lot of big name tuners and high HP Terminator owners hang out over there. Best tech on the net concerning the 03/04 can be found there. U.M.
