What have you done for trouble shooting? Leds rarely goes bad. My guess is that a wire came lose or got cut.
Trouble shooting tip: Find the wires to the led (2 of them) connect one end to the positive end of a 9-volt battery and connect the other end to the negative side of the battery. They should light up since you are bypassing the break pedal. If not try connecting to your car battery.
    Good luck, hope it works.

Sometimes the light cover breaks (or the body shop cracks it by screwing the screws in too far) and water gets in and shorts out the LED wiring, causing permanent damage. You should be able to see the scorched marks between the bulbs if this is the case, and you will have to replace the assembly.

Hopefully this is not the case.

I purchased my 2001 brand new from the dealership with this problem. I ended up buying a completely new brake light from Saleen thinking it was a faulty part.

This wasn't the problem...Saleen simply forgot to hook up the wires inside the deck lid before shipping it off to the dealership (I found this out as I was installing my new light).

Do this...pop your trunk and look under the deck lid. There should be two quick disconnect electrical connectors (positive/negative), see if they are even hooked up. That is all I had to do.

    Good luck...

Sorry FST FORD, I sold it shortly after fixing the one on my car. I believe they are $37.95 or $39.95 from Saleen parts. Just make sure you have them send you the correct one. First, they sent me one for the newer models and then I got one to fit a Focus. Third time was the charm, so make sure you specify clearly.
