Woo-hoo I can finnally post again! I told my dad about my computer internet problems and he suggested to down load a browser update. The old geezer was right! I had Netscape 4.7 (my computer is older then dirt, and I am computer illiterate). What have you dudes been up to?? I see that many of you guys here are new so for review I have a: 1978 Mustang II Mach 1 V8 T-top automatic. The car season was craptacular this summer. every week-end it rained or looked like it was going to. Not to much to report. The only updates this summer were a new transmission and an electric fuel pump. The transmission is a C4 with bigger drums to accommadate more clutchs. (I am told it will now handle 500hp without blowing up). So far, so good it now barks the tires in all three gears. [now i just need 200 more horsepower so I can blow up the rear end?] The electric fuel pump is a Carter HP, I am very happy with it although the holley low oil pressure safety switch I installed with it is a pain in the %$# The principal behind it is that the car can be on and the fuel pump will not turn on unless the engine has oil pressure. It has a jumper wire to the starter soilnoid that is supposed to over-ride the switch on start-up. It works 95% of the time, the other 5% the starter cranks forever before the oil pressure rises and then the fuel pump finnallly turns on. Think the switch took a year off the life of the starter this summer! Think I might put the pump on a toggle switch and a mercury switch for sanity/safety The Car performs very well, but I still have not tuned last summers new Edelbrock carb or used the Edelbrock nitrous kit yet. The mechanical advance only MSD billit distributor works well, but the between the lack of vaccum advance and the Edelbrock carb the car is not as responsive as the Holley carb / Accel vac advance distributor set-up from before. From a standing start 0-to get arrested it feels just as strong or stonger, if you are already moving and you roll into the power it does not have the F16 feel to it, like it used to. Still have not taken it to the track. Most memorable II moment of the summer: A guy in an 87 Iroc (for his sake I hope it was a tired 305) tried to step up to the Mach. I was going about 40 mph in light traffic and he came up beside me pushed in the clutch and reved his engine, I shifted to neutral and reved up the II. He looked a little scared, but desided to go for it. He dumped the clutch, and took off. I placed the two into second and punched it, the race (if you can call it that) was over very quickly in what can only be described as complete Mustang domination. I beat the Camaro by at least two bus lengths! I merged onto the highway and he eventually cot up with me and tried to toy with me on the highway, but I was happly buzzing 3800rpm in the slow lane wishing I had taller tires or another gear and a hat! (it was blazing hot and I had the T's in the hatch).
I've been working my butt off to afford things like a 347 stroker(thats being droppede in today) I had gears machined for the transmission. Figuring out the fuel system, and rewiring the entire car with a painless wiring kit.
The avatar is my II's real License Plate! (I stuffed it in my scanner). When I left my wife, she told me I would never finish the car. The summer after I rolled up at her place in the II (to picked up my son). The Plate was childish, but I can't help but smile from ear to ear when I see it P.S thankyou Sleeper for saving the Avatar from certain distruction!
