I was driving to Murrieta today from San Dog and got into Fallbrook when I noticed my tach started bouncing, I had my stereo up kinda loud. Well I shut off the stereo and noticed that I had no overdrive left. I totally lost 4th gear. I had to drive the rest of the way to Murrieta in 3rd and then all the way home. Man that sucked! Now I have the dilema of either replacing the tranny or picking up a gas miser for work since I drive over 100 miles a day. If I pick up the gas miser then the coupe gets parked until I can make some money to fix it. Tomorrow it goes to the tranny shop to see if it can be helped in a day. Wish me luck. So now I have to drive the wifes car to work tomorrow so she can take mine to the shop. Anyone got a good deal on a tranny or know where to pick one up cheap? or how about a good gas miser with a great A/C for under $3k?

Well, it looks like I might be dropping it off at Valley Transmission tonight for two days to get this baby overhauled. They have a good warranty on their work. 5yr, 60k. at about $1600 - $1700 :(

darn, i am waiting for my ride to fly outta town and won't return till saturday. otherwise i would swing by and say hi. i live really close to valley transmission and know galo and glen. they do good work on tranmissions. we are having them build a 700r4 for our 72 nova. our engine (zz4) is sitting down at the shop and will go in when the tranny does.

Sweet! Sunday I was leaving the house (running late) and saw a 72 Nova SS sitting on the corner for sale. I didn't stop and figured I would when I got back. Too late, it was gone by the time I got home. I was quite bummed!
Hopefully my car is still there. I didn't like leaving it out front of their shop.
I hear they do great work so hopefully they can fix it up right!

Get the car back this afternoon. Transmission was shot. Had them rebuild it extra special and include a shift kit. Can't wait to try her out. :nice:

Glad to hear that you got it running. What shift kit did you end up going with? If you went transgo I'd like to take a ride in your coupe to see how it differs from mine because I think I want to swap mine out for either a B&M or Transgo. L8

Running smooth, but shifts a little hard going into OD. Not sure what shift kit they used but I will give them a call tomorrow and find out. It ran great going up hill to work, but tomorrow I am putting it to a test to see how it runs to Idyllwild.
