I had best buy install a JVC double din XG700 head unit using the correct wiring adapter to match up with the Mach 460 amps and speakers. The tech was very experienced, having been installing setups for over 10 years. Things were fine for a couple of weeks, but now I have interference (buzzing) in the speakers when the unit is powered on. It just started and nothing has been changed either in the engine compartment or anywhere else in the car. I have done no tune up, the igintion wires the stock ones, etc. Any ideas? I plan to go back to them after the holiday install rush is over at the local Best buy. Thanks, Tony
I installed my entire system myself, but I had alternator whine show up after making no changes to my system. It turned out that my electronic crossover moved less than 1/8", as there was insufficient strain relief in the RCAs (my first install, newb mistake) and they tugged it over a tad. When it moved, an RCA cable connector touched a protruding bolt near the install location. That caused a ground loop, thus the alternator whine. I relocated my electronic x-over, and my install has been silent since then. You didn't change anything, but that doesn't mean something didn't change (obviously). Hopefully your installer will take the time to find this new issue without wanting to charge you for their time. I expect you have some kind of warranty period on the install, so you should be fine as long as the issue is actually found. Only took me a couple minutes to find mine though, once I started looking. Good luck!
Thanks! Thanks for the reply. Sounds similar to my issue. The guys at Best Buy have been good to me in the past as I have had them do all the installs for different cars, etc. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. I'll keep you posted here. Tony
