I was over at svtperformance and saw a free mod that basically bypasses the "Boost Bypass Valve" at WOT. I was wondering the following: 1) How many of you have done this mod 2) What (if any) are the ramifications of doing this? 3) Does it even work? I have had 3 previous mustangs but none were Cobras and this if my first Cobra. I don't want to screw something up by doing this... The car has just under 2000 miles on it and is bone stock... BTW, Here is a link to the instructions on how to do the mod... http://www.rpmoutlet.com/boost bypassc.htm
I dont see it helping that much, but who knows maybe it does. Sounds a little ghetto rerouteing the hoses like that, but I am the one who put ducktape on the dash to cover up the shift light for a while. BTW, where in Orlando are you?
Windermere / Dr. Phillips area. Thanks for the info... I don't know if I want to attempt it or not... Maybe I will for Christmas (Something to do in the afternoon)... I guess I can change it back since its pretty simple...
The boost bypass mod will prevent the excess boost that accumulates in between shifts at WOT from being bled off. Some people notice a small amount of bog or lag in between their shifts at the dragstrip. This mod can reduce or eliminate this from happening. Keep in mind this bypass was put there for a reason by the Ford engineers, kind of like a safetly valve... You can also turn off this bypass in the ECM's tune which is the much perferred method. U.M.
bump, is there a way to test the bypass valve to see if it's working correctly? My boost is down and I'm thinking it might have gone bad.
There is an adjustment for the boost bypass valve. If it is not seating fully at WOT it will bleed off some boost and can effect HP/TQ. Do a search on Modular Fords for the proper adjustment procedure. U.M.
