I have heard that the C6 can handle more power. But also loses 60rwhp over the C4. Not an automatic guy but my step-brother has a C6 and we wanted to know. The car came with it.
Power loss through drivetrain Is percentage based, the c6 tranny is a more stout built trans but im not sure where your getting the 60hp loss info from
yeah i think 60 hp is to hi over the c4 power loss. i was told before that a glide is 18% loss and a 3 speed tranny is about a little more and a aod tranny is 27% loss.
Yeah my aod must be killing me, time for a C4. 27% thats a bunch what could I do with that extra 8-10%
I think 27% is high for a fully rollerized trans, but the AOD does suck up much more hp than most autos. I don`t think c4`s suck, I think built correctly they perform very well.
Well, if a stock '87-'93 5.0 is rated at 225 HP at the flywheel, what are most folks showing for RWHP on a dyno with an AOD car? (I seem to remember around 190 HP being the norm for stock setup Foxes, but I think those were mostly on T-5 cars... )
They sure do perform great. Then they break all the time. Anyways what are you doing with the trans whats in front of it, and do you want a brake?
If built right it will last, some upgrades are a must like the #9 bearing needs to be converted to roller and I want to use the broader trans 2.92 first gear planet. No brake for me, I just foot brake it @ 1500 rpm and stab it. As for the AOD thats in my car now a buddy in texas wants it.
I hated my C6, fully built with a custom Brake from JW. Broke it three times in a row, three different parts... I end up spending big money on my Mighty Mite C4 from Dynamic and haven't had a problem with their C4. Iv heard that the C6 pulls about 5-8% more drive train loss than the C4. After swapping from the C6 to the C4 it seemed like the C6 weighed 30lbs. more too. Just my 2 cents... -AJ
