I have a '65 which doesn't have seatbelts in the back. Is it a law for me to have them so people can ride in the back? Or can they not give me a ticket because seat belts were an option that year? If I have to have them, how much would they cost?

I don't think you have to have them. Falls under a certain law you don't have to update olders cars with newer stuff.

Our 31 Model A has no seatbelts and we won't have to add them to drive it on the street.

But its not a bad idea to have them couldn't hurt if you find a set cheap to get them.

IF your car came with no seatbelts in that year then you do not have to upgrade. If your front seat only has a lap belt then you don't need a torso belt. It is a Federal Law.

As mentioned upgrading is a nice and safe thing to do for your passengers. :)
