make my oil filter not want to stay on and actually make it over pressurize and sometimes "burst" open?

this is my 91 2.3T I'm talking about. after a LONG break from my car and getting some things taken car of that I needed to focus on I can start thinking about fixing my car again. well as soon as money and time come back to me too. :)
my ar ran good when i swapped the motor, found an oil leak and what not and it ran but for some reason the turbo could boost in nuetral. so I blame that on my roller cam I swapped in and the fat that my wastegate was blown.

so I think from those couple of problems my problems worsened. I reinstalled the TC cam and replace a few valve lashers and the car seems to run worse I can not make it over 2500 RPM now!! an after alittle the oilfilter burst open. I even put the IHI back on and it spools fine but won't reach full boost yet it sounds like it's boosting just fine when I'm trying to run the car.

so I'm thinking the first problems I had with the car lead to a compression loss of the rings/pistons and now boost is entering the motor itself and overboosting the oilfilter, but at the same time I ouldn't thinkk the oilfilter could burst liek that due to the bypass valve???

i dunno I'm thinking of almost just trying to find a running 2.3T and do the swap again without tearing it down.

did you recently rebuild the engine... when i had my bottom end rebuilt... the mechanic put the rings in upside down...almost blew the oil pan off the car with all the pressure in the bottom end...

yea I rebuilt it before I swapped it, and the rings are fine, it made decent power when I frist got the swap done, even wiht my over boost I could watch the boost with the right throttling and it mad nice power, like being able to light my rear up into second (happened by accident I swear :D).... and I doubt I messed up putting the ring in order, I mean the rings even come with a nice "this goes here first and then this one" instructions with pictures.

the oil filter problem occoured maybe 2-3weeks after driving the car with a bad wastegate and maybe bad cam timing.

    Timing is off big time.

well it's set 10° BTDC, and the cam is set to the pointer, I've even tried advancing and retarding the cam timing...... ???????
