A capacitor stores power and delivers it to your amp when It needs it. It will stop your headlights and instrument panel from dimming when the bass hits and your subs won't start to fade after extended play. They are connected in series and a 1 farad is supposed to be good for systems up to 1000watts RMS and .5 farad for up to 500watts rms.

You need a 1 or 1.5 farad Cap if you are going to get one. I'm running one 1 farad and one 1.5 farad for my amps and they work great for the power 500RMS and 825RMS respectively.

Dirty little industry secret for you all:

There are only 2 or 3 manufacturers of these things worldwide and they sell them to all of the different companies (Rocford, Monster, Lightning, Stinger, etc.) so what you are really paying for is the name or design on the outside...all of the capacitors work exactly the same and are built to exactly the same specs.

If you aren't going to show them off then I suggest that you just get the cheapest one you can find.
