CFR Closed June 12-14th..Flood! HOT ROD POWER TOUR AT CFR CANCELLED JUNE 14th Open Comp Race Cancelled As Well. AREA DEVASTATED BY FLOODING, TRACK UNDER WATER Major flooding has forced the cancellation of the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour stop at Cedar Falls Raceway scheduled for this Thursday, June 12. "The Cedar Valley region is totally devastated by the flooding" said Dan Driscoll. "The track is under water and even getting access has been difficult" continued Driscoll. Cedar Falls Raceway WILL NOT be open this Friday and Saturday, June 13 & 14. "Hopefully the water will recede and we can then evaluate any damages and get any repairs needed" mentioned Driscoll. "This has been a trying year for everyone in the Midwest and in particular anyone involved in outdoor venues." Additional information and plans will be released on this website as soon as any determinations can be made.
Iowa is getting hit hard this year. I have seen a few pictures of Waterloo/Cedar Falls, I have never seen it this bad. Grew up in Waterloo, and this pretty much makes '93 look like a normal spring. I hope everyone has only minimal damage and everything gets back to normal soon.
IA weather It started out bad the beginning of last December with the icing..then we had record snowfalls...now floods and tornadoes.....what next locusts?????
JULY 5th CFR OpenComp Race Cancelled Their still dealing with the aftermath of the floods: EVENTS CONTINUE ON HOLD TRACK REMAINS CLOSED JUNE 27 - JULY 5 After surveying the flood damage on Tuesday, June 24th, officials have determined that racing will remain on hold at CFR. "We have several issues to get resolved before we can go racing again" mentioned Dan Driscoll. As of this writing the grounds are still very soggy and there is still water flowing over the return road. In addition the water well pump is shot and we have some wiring issues and septic concerns. The track will need power washing (maybe several times) and a complete scrubbing before any cars will be allowed to race. "We will re-open, most likely in July" continued Driscoll "we have several options to consider and will provide an update of our plans once they are confirmed." I'm going to try and work out another race date or two with the track management since we're down to only two of our original five race dates at this point. Gene
