I've discovered that my car has a random "Clunk" sound that seems to originate from the driver's side underneath the hood upon startup (a couple of seconds after the engine first turns over). It doesn't happen EVERY time but has happened repeatedly.' At first I thought it was the suspension because it happened three times while backing out of a parking space and turning. I've since found that it can and does happen while I'm sitting still before I even put it in gear and let out the clutch to back up. Does anyone have any idea what it could be or if there's a related TSB (tried to search but didn't find any)? -Thanks!
do you hear it when the car starts to move? When I park my car after washing it or driving in the rain, it will sometimes clunk when it starts to move. I think what I am hearing is the brake pad coming loose from the rotor surface rust.
I have had the exact same problem since day one. I am not sure either. Of course when you take it to the dealership it never does it. It feels like a low thud right in front of the pedals.
Yeah, I figured I might as well not bother to take it in...I KNOW it won't do it then and even if it does they wouldn't be able to easily reproduce it again. It's actually pretty loud though; it could be coming from in front of the pedals. Think it might be the power steering or brake booster kicking in? It does it even before moving tr7driver, but like I said...for the longest time I thought it was my suspension because I'm usually moving already by the time it does it.
