Well yesterday i was driving down the highway and went for a turn so i pushed in the clutch pedal and heard a clunk and the pedal went to the floor and had no pressure at all. So i limped it home figuring the clutch cable was culprit. I almost got home when all the sudden i heard another clunk and then i had pedal pressure again but it wouldnt let the clutch engage fully so it was slipping really bad so i got it home. I crawled under it and the cable looks just fine. Is my clutch bad or what would cause this i really dont know but i have to get it fixed soon... Thanks for any replys.
. To me it sounds like you might have something funky going on with your clutch itself. The other possibility is, at least on my car ('93 2.3 5-speed), there is a self adjuster on the clutch quadrant. That would make a popping sound if it broke, came loose, etc.
Before it went out when i would push the clutch in at the bottom of the travel i would feel a little clunk for the last few days.
My clutch had the same problem but I put in a new clutch, pressure plate, and a thowout bearing and all the noises stopped. So I had no clue what had happened.
