So 12:05 today I was driving home after closing at work and I went to down shift and for some reason the car wouldn't let my put it gear so I ignored it till I got to the stop sign and tried to put it in first and I could here the car just grinding it. I knew right away that my clutch went out. I had ford pick it up and take it to the dealership they looked at it and said it was probbly not going to be under warranty because its a wear item. I personally believe that no clutch should wear out in less then 19,000 mile. So I was wondering what all you thought. Should I let ford put there same clutch in it and pay like 2000$ to get it done or should I pull it all out and rebuild the trany and the engine.
Sounds to me like you're riding the clutch. I'd take a look at how i'm driving and just get a new ford clutch. Mine lasted over twice as long as that. However, don't take no for an answer. Threaten with lawyers, write to corporate, do what you gotta do to try and get them to replace it under warranty. Refuse to take anything less.
is it me or are u going to an extreme? i mean if u dont want the stock ford clutch can't u get an aftermarket one without rebuilding the tranny and engine?
Correct but I am going to have to pull the tranny of to get to the clutch to replace it. So while I am at it I want to do a couple of things to both the engine and the tranny. Just to save time in the long run. Thanks for the advice.
