sup guys/gals...quick question...i'm gunna be in the market to get a new paint job soon...my car is black...and i heard that you need a black base coat for that chameleon paint...is it that much more expensive than regular paint...and can i still get the ford paint (its more of a green/purple/blue/black) instead of that orangey changing bright paint?

also...in your opinions...if i get that kinda paint...is that along the same lines as putting a cobra front bumper on a v6...and other mods of that nature??

You can still get along with numerous other Flip-Flop (camileon) color, The paint is more expensive, depending on the color and manufacturer, you talking anaware from 100 - 500 per quart. a car can be painted with two or three coats with about 2 quarts. :jester:

THe Mystichrome paint isn't available if you don't have the Cobra - so I've been told. In order to get a nice color changing effect, you need to have a good many coats applied to get a nice spectral shift. The more coats, the greater the shift.

Last time I checked PPG's Green/Purple color shifting paint would run me $1500 for my drop top. OUCH! That's with no black base coat, and no clear coat. OUCH! OUCH!

I'm not sure if you can just spray on color changing paint onto a clear coated black car, but I remember where all Saleens had to be ordered black from the factory for their chamelion paint.
